Gorge Walking

With gorge walking to be water confident is essential and to have the understanding that gorge walking is a robust activity which comes with the risk of bumps and bruises. Still interested? Then read on…

A group negotiate small waterfalls in Cwm Dyar

Two gorges are presently used and each is different. Cwm Dyar, which is close to the Pwll Du Centre tends to be a wet and technical gorge, at least above knee height, it is narrower, in a wooded area and sees little general use. Participants are encouraged to walk in the water and ropes are used on two of the drops.

While the Dinas rock is a dry gorge, there is the opportunity for a 3 metre jump into a rock pool. It is broader, more in the open and well used generally and is located 40 minutes from Pwll Du. Participants are encouraged to avoid the water by traversing and moving over the rock and blocks.

Each demands a high level of support from each person and is a super activity following climbing which involves a progressive transfer of skills.
