Primary Courses for Environmental Education

Scientific Enquiry

This topic is designed to extend children’s investigative work at Years 5/6. This will include making suggestions of how to investigate a question, planning the investigation, making observations and measurements, recording appropriately, interpreting data and relating this to scientific knowledge, using scientific language and suggesting improvements. The context can be any environmental situation such as woodlands, meadows or ponds. Investigations can compare animal populations in different areas or different leaf size and shapes in different conditions and small groups can work on different projects.
