Primary Courses for Environmental Education

Industrial Trails

These trails offer an historical perspective of the use of rocks and minerals and the effects of human activity upon the landscape. This can include looking at quarries, colonised spoil heaps, watching stonemasons at work, discovering iron and coal mine workings and following old tramroad and railway networks. Along the route, a series of short drama sketches introduces the characters from history involved in past industry of the area.
