The Buckstone Adventure Centre
Buckstone Adventure Centre is located at one of the highest points of the Forest of Dean with magnificent views westwards to the River Wye. The Centre is open throughout the year and is available to Youth Groups, Schools and Voluntary Organisations. It is particularly suitable for outdoor education, camp crafts, expeditions, treks and is ideal for small groups wishing to use the grounds for a first time experience of lightweight camping.
Facilities
Log Cabin - this is furnished for 12 people (10 young people plus 2 leaders). Accommodation is one large room with bunk beds built around the walls, plus a kitchen and dining room. Leaders are accommodated in the loft.
Bunk House - this is furnished as sleeping accommodation for 12 people (10 young people plus 2 leaders).
The usual toilets, wash basins and showers are provided - to the rear of the cabin. Groups must provide their own sleeping bags/blankets and pillows.
Kitchen - there is a gas cooker and propane gas is supplied. Mains water is laid on in the cabin. A fridge freezer is provided. Kitchen utensils, cooking equipment are also provided, but not cutlery and cups.
Location
Buckstone Adventure Centre is situated approximately one mile from the village of Staunton. To reach the centre by road, travel westwards on the A4136 through the village and take the first left after the White Horse Inn. Proceed through the gate and keep bearing right up the steep roadway. Follow the track for 880 yards until you reach the Adventure Centre at the end of the tarmac road. The roadway cannot be used for coaches, only minibuses.
